Isaikkavi Ramanan is a prolific poet and writer in Tamil, a composer, and a singer. He has published about 32 books. Notable among them is Sikaram, the biography of the famous movie director, K. Balachandar. His books in English include Chips Down? Chin Up!; Business Mantras, a Pictorial on N. Mahalingam; and A Sublime Sacrament, an interpretation of Hindu marriage rites.

He has addressed audiences of various age groups in multiple forums on diverse topics, including series on Thirukkural, Bharathiar’s works, Kannadasan’s film songs, and motivational talks. He has anchored and acted in several programs on many popular TV channels relating to social and spiritual themes. He has written a Tamil play Bharathi Yaar? and plays the lead role. He has also dabbled in English theatre and has traveled widely across the globe for his lecture tours in English and Tamil. Besides pursuing his interest in literary works, Mr. Venkateswaran is an avid photographer and a nature enthusiast. He is an ardent pilgrim and has made 35 visits to different parts of the Himalayas so far.

1. தமிழ் வணிகசினிமா பற்றிய ஒரு இளக்காரமான பார்வை பொதுவாக அறிவுஜீவிகளிடம் உள்ளது. என்னிடமும் இருந்தது. ஆனால் உலகமெங்கும் உள்ள வட்டாரசினிமாக்களை ஹாலிவுட் சினிமா முற்றாக அழித்து அம்மக்கள் தங்களுக்குள் பேசிக்கொள்ளும் வெகுஜன ஊடகமாக சினிமா அமையாமல் ஆக்கிவிட்டிருக்கிறது. அந்த அபாயத்தை சமாளித்து இங்கே தமிழ் வணிகச்சினிமா வெற்றிகரமாக இருப்பதே ஒரு பண்பாட்டுச்சாதனை. அது,தொடர்ச்சியான ஃபீட் பேக் மெக்கானிசம் மூலம் உருவாக்கப்பட்டது. ஆகவே தமிழ்ச்சமூகத்தின் சராசரியால் உருவாக்கப்பட்டது அதன் தரம்.
2 இக்காரணத்தால் தமிழில் சராசரிக்கு மேலான ஒரு தளத்தில் படங்கள் வரமுடியவில்லை. அப்படி ஒரு படத்தை உருவாக்கும் முயற்சிகள் பல நடக்கின்றன. அதன்விளைவாக உருவான ஒன்றே குறும்பட இயக்கம். அதற்குப் பொருளியல் சுமை இல்லை என்பதனால் அது சுதந்திரமாக இயங்க முடியும் என்ற நிலை இருந்தது. ஆனால் நடைமுறையில் அது வெற்றியா என்ற தயக்கம் இருக்கிறது. ஆரம்பத்தில் குறும்படங்கள் மீது இருந்த எதிர்பார்ப்பு இல்லை இப்போது.
3 . காரணங்கள் இரண்டு. இந்தப் படங்களிலேயே அவை தெரிகின்றன. ஒன்று இலக்கியவாசிப்போ, அறிமுகமோ இல்லாதவர்களால் இப்படங்கள் எடுக்கப்படுகின்றன. ஆகவே கதைக்கருவிலும் வாழ்க்கை அவதானிப்புகளிலும் ஒரு முதிர்ச்சி இல்லை மிகச் சாதாரணமான கதைகளைச் சாதாரணமாக எடுக்கிறாகள். இந்தக்குறும்படங்களின் கதைகளைக் குமுதம் கூட வெளியிடுமா என்பது சந்தேகமே. பெரும் சிறுகதைச்சாதனைகள் நிகழ்ந்த ஒரு மொழியில் இத்தகைய படங்கள் வருவதை நாம் ஒரு சரிவு என்றே நினைக்கவேண்டும். இரண்டாவதாக இப்படங்கள் குறைந்த நேர அளவுள்ள, சிறிய சட்டகம் கொண்ட படங்கள். இதற்கான ஒரு திரைமொழி , திரைக்கதை வடிவம் உருவாக்கப்படவேண்டும். ஆனால் பெரிய படங்களின் அதே திரைமொழி, அதே திரைக்கதை உத்தியில் இவை எடுக்கப்படும்போது பார்வையனுபவம் சிறப்பாக அமைவதில்லை.
ஏறத்தாழ முப்பது பேர் பார்வையாளர்கள். மூன்று நபர்கள் கொண்ட ஜூரி.
தமிழ் வணிக சினிமாவை நிராகரித்துப் பேச முடியாது. தமிழ்ப்படங்கள் என்பது ஒரு பண்பாட்டு உரையாடல். அவை சராசரி மனிதர்களுடன் பேசக்கூடியவை. ஆவரேஜ் ஆளுக்காகத்தான் படமெடுக்க முடியும். எதிர்காலத்தில் கலைப்படங்கள் காலூன்றலாம். ஆனால், இன்றைக்கு அந்த நிலை கிடையாது.
பகுதி ஒன்று
* உணவு: பெரிய சாப்பாட்டு மேஜை. அயிரம் பேர் உண்ணக் கூடிய விருந்து போன்ற அயிட்டங்கள் காட்டப்பட வேண்டும். பார்வையாளனுக்கு பசியாக இருக்கலாம். கல்யாண சாப்பாடு தேவையிருக்கலாம். அதைத் தீர்க்க வேண்டும்.
* ஆடை, அணிகலன்: நாயகி தன்னுடைய டிரெஸரைத் திறந்து நூற்றுக்கணக்கான புடைவையை அலசுவாள். அவற்றில் இருந்து ஒன்றைத் தேர்ந்தெடுப்பாள். சினிமா பார்ப்பவனுக்கு அத்தனை புடவை எடுத்து தர முடியாது. பார்ப்பவளுக்கு இந்த மாதிரி சாய்ஸ் இருப்பது போல் கற்பனை தருவதற்கு சரோஜாதேவியும் ஜெயலலிதாவும் இவ்வ்வாறு செலக்சன் செய்ய வேண்டும்.
* இடம், லொக்கேஷன்: ஒவ்வொரு ஊரில் ஒவ்வொரு கலாச்சாரம். அனைத்து ஊர்களிலும் பிடிக்குமாறு புரியுமாறு எடுக்க வேண்டிய தேவை இருக்கிறது. சென்னையில், சின்னாளப்பட்டியில், சிகாகோவில், ஸ்கார்பரோவில் என்று எல்லா இடத்திற்கான சராசரி விருப்பங்களை உள்ளடக்கி எடுக்கிறார்கள்.
* ரிலாக்ஸேஷன்: இரண்டே கால் மணி நேரம் படம் ஓட வேண்டும். சினிமாவிற்கு கிளம்புவதற்கு பெரிய விஷயம். அந்தளவு சிரமப்பட்டு வருபவர்கள், டக்கென்று எண்பது மணித்துளிகளில் முடித்து அனுப்ப முடியாது.
* வணிக சினிமா: காதல் இல்லாத தமிழ் சினிமா எடுபடாது; எடுக்கணும்னு அவசியம் இல்ல. தமிழகச் சூழலில் காதல் செய்யும் வாய்ப்பு இல்லாததால் ஈடேற்றம் செய்வதற்கு இளமையும் காதலும் சினிமாவில் நிறைவேற்றுகிறது.
பகுதி இரண்டு
* சிறு பத்திரிகைக்காரன்: நா பார்த்தசாரதி, அகிலன், கல்கி எல்லாம் வணிக எழுத்தாளர்கள். அவர்கள் மட்டுமே புகழ் பெற்று விளங்கிய காலம் உண்டு. இன்று வெகுசன இலக்கியம் அல்லாதவர்கள்தான் புகழ் பெற்றவர்களாக இருக்கிறார்கள். நான் சிறுபத்திரிகைக்காரன். இன்று மைய எழுத்தாக விளங்குகிறேன். அது போல் குறும்படக்காரர்களும் மெயின் நீரோட்டத்தை நிர்ணயிப்பவர்களாக ஆகலாம்.
* இலக்கிய வாசிப்பு: கதைகளை தேர்தெடுக்கும்போது எண்ணங்களை மையமாக வைக்காமல், சிறப்பான சிறுகதைகளை எடுத்துக் கொள்ளலாம்.
கலியுகம் படத்தின் இசை வெளியீட்டு விழாவில் முதலில் பேசிய கவிஞர் அறிவுமதி, மனுஷ்யபுத்திரன் குங்குமத்தில் வழக்கு எண் படத்தை துவைத்து காயப்போட்டுவிட்டதாக குறைபட்டுக் கொண்டார். இதுபோல் மனுஷ் போன்ற இலக்கியவாதிகளே செய்தால், அடுத்து வரும் தயாரிப்பாளர்களும் வர மாட்டார்கள்.. இது தமிழ்ச் சினிமா துறையின் வளர்ச்சியையே பாதிக்கும். அது மிக அருமையான படம் என்று சொன்னார்.
தமிழகத்தின் ‘நீயா, நானா’ அரட்டை அரங்கங்களில் உணர்ச்சிமிகு வசனங்கள் நிறைந்திருக்கின்றன. அந்த நிகழ்ச்சி பேச்சாளர்களில் ஒரு சிலராவது இவ்வாறு கோர்வையாக ஒரு மணி நேரம் பேசக்கூடியவராக மாற வேண்டும். வரலாற்றுப் பார்வை, கலாச்சார பின்புலம், அரசியல் கோணங்கள், உலகளாவிய நோக்கு என்று சுவாரசியமான ஸ்டாண்டப்.
சிலியின் அலெண்டெ, சதாமின் இரான் போர், குவைத் எண்ணெய்க் கிணறு, அமெரிக்காவை நெருக்கியிருக்கும் இராணுவப் பொருளாதாரம்… பின்னிப் பிணைந்து நகைச்சுவையும் கலந்து உரையாற்றுகிறார்.

– The visitor might hv come via Search Engine: Sound research, useful tidbits shd be there in each post
– Regular reader: Don’t repeat; say the obvious

b. Short attention span
– Keep it in bulletpoints (summarize each post at top or bottom) ; Use blockquotes: Be aware of HTML
– Add a relavant Photo – attracts the user to the content, writing; summarize the post in 140 chars in Twitter
– Read a lot; write in simple language
c. Interaction with Visitors
– comment regularly on ur visitor blogs
– write lengthy rebuttals to popular bloggers (like those listed in Desipundit.com)
– don’t cheat ur feed readers: write often; atleast once every day!
Finally Technical Notes:
1. Use wordpress.com (instead of blogger.com)
2. As much a spossible avoid writing lengthy discourses on Politics (at least when starting to write blogs)
3. Never ever post ur Kavithai, story, fiction etc in blogs – Not many will read there
