On several occasions during the campaign he was in an inebriated state, chewing gum to suppress the breath. Campaigning in Cuddalore, he once assaulted a candidate in full public view because he had apparently used too many vehicles in the convoy causing an accident. On another occasion he ended his speech by suggesting that people vote for the AIADMK; correcting himself after being prompted.

Hi Badri
Anand is one intruiging but interesting writer
He has been consistent in his vitroil/diatribe against the Dravidian Parties. He really points out the idisyncrancies and bizzare practices that go in the name of Dravidian Politics. He has really called the bluff of Jayalalitha/Karunanidhi/Vaiko in some of this articles. Also he had the courage to point out to the anti-dalit practices of Periyar too
Suprisingly I have never seen him in any television shows on issue related to TN though his predecessor Paneerselvam used to be more visible
I really enjoyed one of his article on the movie Lagaan titled”Eating with Our Fingers, Watching Hindi Cinema and Consuming Cricket”.Excellent piece though i tend to disagree with several observations
I think what he pointed out about Vijaykanth might definitely be true
over to vijaykanth fans
Badri,
I too was surprised with this “tongue in cheek” remark in outlook.Infact I had to verify the actual meaning of “inebriated” 🙂
also read in other sources that the reporters were not allowed to go closer to him.(Rediff had a very different story) .
remember sometime back S.S.Chandran being pulled out for similar behaviour.
Vijayakanth has a loooot to learn in politics and public life yet ..:-)
(BTW I dont have a high regard for Outlook either)
I have heard the part of the news:
One of a Tamil popular magazine mentioned that ‘V.Kanth asked the people to Vote for A.D.M.K , but corrected later’. Tonque Slip?
//He has been consistent in his vitroil/diatribe against the Dravidian Parties…. Also he had the courage to point out to the anti-dalit practices of Periyar too//
yes, prasanna, if you read his ‘Dalits reversed’ article, he is definitely consistent in his attack on Dravidian movement. Even Cho is consistent that way!
Apart from that, Anand is clear example of, journalism based on polemeics.
