The CPI(M) today asked the government to withdraw an advertisement issued by the Railways, saying it “alluded to the election symbol” of the Trinamool Congress.
“This advertisement also carries your photograph,” senior party leader Sitaram Yechury said in a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, adding “I was aghast to see the graphics in the advertisement that are alluding to the election symbol of the Trinamool Congress.”
“Surely you will agree that this is a brazen effort at utilising governmental funds for promoting the political interests of a particular party which happens to be a member of the ruling coalition under your leadership,” he said.
Yechury said the Prime Minister should ensure that such advertisements were withdrawn and “necessary instructions issued to all government departments not to promote the partisan interests of any political party at the expense of public monies.
இந்திய அரசாங்கத்தின் அதிகாரபூர்வ பதில்:
Some misunderstanding has arisen in certain sections about the design of an advertisement of the Ministry of Railways that appeared in the news papers all over the nation to spread awareness about the recent policy announcement of the Ministry regarding the facility of free Monthly Season Tickets to the students of the Madarsa’s and students of other educational institutions.
The notion is misplaced and is, perhaps, more a flight of fancy on the part of those nursing this misunderstanding. This design is a work of art executed by an advertising agency of New Delhi working for the Indian Railways, which has actually visualized different communities and children as the shoots of a single family tree. The depiction of a twig of a plant with the faces of students embedded there in is actually meant to signify the fact that students are the saplings for the future of this nation and it is the moral duty of government to nurture these saplings in order to lay the foundations of a strong and vibrant India.
The facility of free Monthly Season Ticket has been available to the girl students of upto graduation level and boy students of upto 12th standard belonging to recognized educational institutions and has now been extended to the students of Madarsa, senior Madarsa and higher Madrasa.
