Former President Bill Clinton told more than 1,600 graduating seniors at Harvard College that the biggest problem facing humanity today is people’s tendency to highlight differences and reject their common humanity.
- ‘I was considering why I was chosen to speak. Maybe because you’re about to name (Drew Gilpin) Faust president, and I think women should run everything now,’ Clinton said in a not-so-veiled reference to his wife, New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.
- ‘I believe one of the most important problems is the way people think about each other, that our differences are more important than our humanity, when our humanity is more important than our differences’.
- “For all the opportunity, there’s a lot of inequality”.
- “The world is awash today with political, psychological conflicts, which require us to divide up and demean people.”

I believe one of the most important problems is the way people think about each other, that our differences are more important than our humanity, when our humanity is more important than our differences’.
“For all the opportunity, there’s a lot of inequality”.
“The world is awash today with political, psychological conflicts, which require us to divide up and demean people// how true. He also talked a lot on economical indifferences without any bias during his interview with wolf.
His thoughts (i.e. quotes) makes plain sense…
I have read he connects well with his readers or those who are watching his speech.
he does. He speaks to your heart and can understand the underserverd problems better because he had a tough childhood. His mom was an alcoholic, father left, grand parents pitched in, grew up eating burgers like majority of poor people, spend days in foster homes. when he speaks he gets passionate. I was in one of the meeting on nutrition and something he said was plain common sense. Poor people who can not afford health care or gym go for value meals and get all health replated problems. In Africa a man created a pump that gets water piped in as children step and run on the step. It was created like a play ground and the village water gets pumped by children who come ot play ground. Clinton got inspired by that, raised money and made many such play grounds in nearby villages in Africa, and the water problem gets taken care of by children who play. He might have a weakness, but which of the president did not have? why JFK was not criticized as much as Clinton is? May be because he did not have a rich background.
Clinton speks to the poor and they like him. Many of free health programs for poor are funded heavily in his time. Now Medicaid funding might be cut:) He is not the gretaest, but a person who came from a humble background and changed things around.
