அரசும் தலைவர்களும் மக்களைத் திருவோடு ஏந்தவைக்கின்றனர் : தோழி.காம் – 1/Jan/2006
தினமும் காரில் நீண்ட வரிசைகளில் மக்களை நிற்கச் செய்து பல் விளக்கி விட்டு, காபி, சிற்றுண்டி ஆகியவற்றை இலவசமாக வழங்கலாம். மதியம் வரை அவர்களை உலக அரசியல், தமிழ் சினிமா இவற்றில் திளைக்கச் செய்து மதிய உணவு வழங்கலாம். பிறகு இரவு வரை தொலைக்காட்சியில் வரும் குடும்ப மதிப்பீடுகள் கொண்ட தொடர்களைக் காட்டித் தாலாட்டித் தூங்கவைக்கலாம். வருடத்திற்கு இரண்டு முறை இலவச உடைகள் தந்து, ஐந்து வருடங்களுக்கு ஒரு முறை வாக்களிக்கச் செய்து ஜனநாயகத்தைக் காப்பாற்றலாம்.
மக்களின் அடிப்படைத் தேவைகளான கல்வி, உணவு, மருத்துவ வசதிகள், சாலைகள், இவையே கேள்விக்குறியாக, எட்டாத கனவாக இருக்கும்போது, ஒவ்வொரு அரசாங்கமும் அரசாங்க கஜானாவைத் தங்களுக்கு பிடித்த எதாவது ஒரு இலவசத்தில் செலவழித்துக்கொண்டிருப்பது தமிழகத்தை முன்னேற்றப் பாதையிலிருந்து வெகு தொலைவிற்குத் தடம் மாறி இட்டுச் செல்கிறது. அது மட்டுமின்றி மக்களின் சுயமரியாதையையும் ஆணிவேரோடு அழிக்கவும் செய்கிறது.

It is funny that Kanimozhi is all for reservations on the basis of caste but is against freebies.Perhaps it is fashionable these days to support reservations and to oppose freebies as stated in election manifestos.
கனிமொழி போன்ற மக்களை பாதிக்கக் கூடிய சிந்தனையாளர்கள் இவ்வாறு குரல் எழுப்புவது இந்த தேர்தலுக்கு பயனளிக்காவிடினும், மக்கள் மனதில் பதியும்.
ஏற்பது இகழ்ச்சி என்று ஔவை வழிவந்த சமுகாயம், இன்று இலவச தொலைக்காட்சிக்கும் அரிசிக்கும் அலைபாய்வது நமது கலாசார சீரழிவையே காட்டுகிறது.

It is NOT funny. Her views are quite consistent with the adage: “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”.
Reservation is not a freebie. Reservations and freebies have quite opposite effects on those who receive them. The former can uplift a section of the society and the latter can demoralize the same section.
BTW, we know your stand on reservations. What do you think about freebies?
Kanimozhi is against freebies??? Why did she then recommend for her friend (Salma) in assembly elections??? As they say ” Thanakku oru niyadhi, Ooranukku oru niyadi”… (One rule for self, one rule for others). Kanimozhi is perfectly fit to participate in politics.
