Statue desecration sparks violence: “Violence broke out here on Monday and the police had to resort to lathicharging as activists of the Viduthalai Chiruthigal Katchi and the Congress clashed over the desecration of Rajiv Gandhi’s statue.”

ChennaiOnline News : VCK denies hand in statue desecration: “Unit Deputy Secretary Arasu Vanangamudi alleged Congress volunteers had made provocative speeches against VCK leader Thol Tirumavalavan during the demonstration at Orleanpet.

He demanded registration of cases under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against Congressmen who had spoken at the demonstration ‘maligning’ the reputation of Tirumavalavan and Dr B R Ambedkar.”
