   During 1968 Election, Lyndon B Johnson (D) Against Barry Morris Goldwater(R).

   Lyndon Johnson (Democrat) won that election.

   “When was the last U.S. presidential election the Republican Party **won** without a Nixon or a Bush on the ticket?”

   Goldwater got creamed in 1964 which brings us back to the pre-FDR era in which Hoover was the Republican put out by FDR.

   All GOP **tickets** since 1952 (minus ’64 and 2008) have had Nixon, Dole or Bush in either the top or second spot.

   And ’64 and ’08 have the parallel of running a senator from Arizona.
